DeKalb Man Trever Deion Blue accused of assaulting 11 women makes court appearance
A DeKalb County man accused of sexually assaulting 11 women was back in court on Wednesday.
Trever Deion Blue, 22, was arrested and indicted more than two years ago. He now faces 68 counts in a string of attacks in east DeKalb County.
Women in east DeKalb County said they lived in fear of attack from September 2009 and February 2010.
Theresa Chapman said her neighbor was robbed, assaulted and sodomized in October 2009. The armed man also tried to rape the 64-year-old victim.
"She called me to alert and let me know that something had happened to her and to be very watchful when I come out in the moing…before going to work because she knew that it's still dark and she didn't want the same thing to happen," said Chapman.
The random attacks continued day and night at apartment and condominium complexes near Hambrick Road. According to the April 2010 indictment, the crimes often began a robbery, burglary or kidnapping and ended with 11 women violated at gunpoint.
DeKalb County District Attoey Robert James said DNA evidence will play a key role in prosecuting Blue, who was 19 when he was arrested in February 2010.
It was revealed on Wednesday that pretrial DNA hearings could last up to three days.
Judge Linda W. Hunter would like the trial to begin in early 2013.
The victims' ages ranged from 19 to 64 years old.
