DeKalb County Schools removed from probation

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

DeKalb County Schools have been removed from probation after being placed on probation after a six-month investigation stemming from numerous complaints from parents, taxpayers, employees and even school board members.

DeKalb County Board of Education and SACS head Dr. Mark Elgart held a meeting at the DeKalb County district office on Tuesday moing to discuss the status of the counties accreditation.

During the meeting, Elgart commended the district on a number of things including "stabilizing the school district and reversing the trend of depleting funds."

Elgart commented that the school district was "in turmoil a year ago but a lot has changed in a year."

SACS placed the district on "accredited waed" which automatically removed them from probation and took them out of any imminent danger of losing accreditation.
