DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A DeKalb County employee accused of accepting bribes was arrested on the job on Wednesday. Shirley Harland, 58, works for the county’s Parks and Recreation Department, and investigators say she lied on state documents in exchange for money.

Harland was led from her office to a police car that was waiting outside the DeKalb County Administration Building on Wednesday. She faced a judge in magistrate court on Wednesday afteoon, where she heard the charges against her. She had little to say when FOX 5 tried to ask her about the charges, saying she had no comment.

Investigators say she took a $40 bribe from an undercover operative to falsify a document relating to court-mandated community service. Investigators combed through her workspace, removing her hard drive and taking boxes of documents for review.

Harland faces charges of making false statements, bribery and conspiracy to defraud the state of community service. Because of medical issues, the judge allowed her to be released on a $1,000 signature bond. The case will now go to the grand jury.
