Deals Await Shoppers on Cyber Monday
Monday, November 29, is the day when millions of holiday shoppers look for the perfect gift in cyberspace.

ATLANTA - Monday is the day when millions of holiday shoppers look for the perfect gift in cyberspace.

The values you will find online Monday are among the best of the holiday shopping season.

Still some shoppers say Cyber Monday leaves them cold as they prefer heading out to their favorite shops.

Retailers call it Cyber Monday -- a chance for bargain hunters to scan the web for the best deals -- but do some consumers still prefer to brave the crowds at the stores?

Every year some shoppers live for shopping -- the thrill of waiting in line -- then packing the store on Black Friday looking for the best bargains.

"I went to a couple other stores first. I was at Macys 3 o'clock in the moing waiting for them to open at 4. I went to Walmart, didn't see anything, I left then I went to Shoe Caival, got a great deal. Then I went to Target and now I'm here," said shopper Arkietha Prince

But now, more and more people are waiting a couple of days to bargain hunt from the privacy of their own homes two days later.

Some say Cyber Monday is preferred for them for both convenience and value over the brick and mortar store.

"On Cyber Monday, they're going to be offering a lot of low prices then too," said Amy Watson.

"Then when they say they have so much stuff, I was online for a DS at Wal-Mart. They only had 29. There's 37 people in line an hour before it happens. You sit here and count yourself, you're counted out to begin with. So you might as well come somewhere else," said Kimberly Banks.

"Very good deals on a couple of these GPS units, if you're in the market to buy a GPS, this is the time to do it," said Office Depot Manager Tommy Anderson.

Stores like Office Depot say they're prepared either way. Nine out of every 10 retailers have special Cyber Monday values -- in the case of Office Depot -- the store is preparing to match any prices customers find only on the website.

"People as they get more involved in the technology, they start looking for what's next and what's new, people don't want to come to the stores a lot of time and shop, they want to come to web and buy their stuff online. They don't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the store environment," said Anderson.

Still some say Cyber Monday doesn't give them the rush of fighting the crowds every holiday.

"My husband's an online shopper, I like to see, I like to have that visual, that's the kind of person I am. He's a computer programmer, he doesn't like the crowds. I like the hustle and bustle, talking to people, if I get a good deal, I like to share it with them," said Prince.

And though it's called Cyber Monday many online retailers give bargain hunters a head start days ago.

Sony and Amazon are among the websites that offered Cyber Monday values through the weekend leading up to it -- so you many have check for availability of some merchandise.
