DA seeks death penalty in trooper Chadwick LeCroy's death

ATLANTA - Fulton County prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against the 30-year-old Atlanta man who police say gunned down a Georgia state trooper.

Fulton County District Attoey Paul Howard on Thursday filed a court notice to seek the death penalty against Gregory Favors, who is charged with murder, assault and theft.

Favors, who had previously been arrested 19 times, was charged in the Dec. 27 shooting death of Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chadwick LeCroy, who was fatally shot in the neck during a traffic stop.

He is charged with leading LeCroy on a brief car chase in northwest Atlanta. Authorities say he pulled a gun on LeCroy after crashing his car, shooting at the officer three times and hitting him once in the neck
