Cops assigned to school to monitor Pledge of Allegiance
Cops sent to elementary school after pledge dust-up

Teachers, better make sure your kids don't leave any words out of the Pledge of Allegiance unless you want to end up with cops in your classroom. The parent of a student at Mill Creek Elementary School near Geneva, Ill., alerted just about everyone — from the school board and administrators to Facebook friends — after overhearing the kindergarten class's recitation, which, it is alleged, skipped words including "liberty." The parent's heated complaint — which used "language that is not typically heard in a school setting" — convinced school officials to bring in the police. [Source]

How should school officials have handled the situation?
