DeKalb County Fire Kills Four Members of Same Family
4 family members killed in DeKalb house fire

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Four members of a family died in a house fire early Thursday in DeKalb County, authorities said.

Fire crews responded just before midnight Wednesday to a residence on Winthrop Drive, where heavy smoke was visible as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, Interim Fire Chief Melvin Carter said.

Three people were found inside the home and died at the scene. A fourth victim, who was pulled from the house, later died at a hospital, Carter said. The victims one woman and three men from the same family have not been publicly identified. 

Relatives arrived at the scene during the response and remained as crews battled the fire, according to WSB-TV.

Officials did not immediately release a cause for the fire. Investigators are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
