Columbus Judge Douglas C. Pullen Steps Down Amid Probe
Judge Douglas C. Pullen

Superior Court Judge Doug Pullen of the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit told Gov. Nathan Deal on Monday he plans to step down from the bench on Sept. 1.

Pullen, who has been under investigation by the Judicial Qualifications Commission, is the former district attoey in Columbus and was appointed to the bench by then-Gov. Zell Miller in 1995.

In a recent interview with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Pullen said he planned to step down early next year and teach at Mercer University's law school. But Monday, he told Deal he will resign at the end of this month.
