Cobb Officer Charles Forrester Accused Of Forging Prescriptions
COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- A Cobb County police lieutenant arrested on suspicion of a prescription drug-related offense resigned on Tuesday, Channel 2's Ross Cavitt confirmed.
Cobb County police said Lt. Charles Forrester was accused of forging 2 prescriptions to get 120 oxycodone tablets.
Forrester met with county officials Tuesday afteoon and was suspended. Cobb County police have launched an inteal investigation into the matter. The Georgia Drug and Narcotics Agency was also involved, Cavitt reported.
Colleagues of Forrester told Cavitt that Forrester had battled chronic back pain for years. Former prosecutor Phil Holloway told Cavitt the crime is becoming increasingly common.
"The traditional case that I see is where someone is trying to legitimately treat chronic long term pain and eventually, although the pain goes away, the pills take away that person's judgement as well," Holloway said.
Forrester was booked into the Cobb County Jail on Friday and was released on $10,000 bond the same day, according to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
