The Clayton County Board of Health is advising the West Nile Virus has been found in mosquitoes found at a monitoring site in the northe part of the county.

Clayton County Health Director Alpha Fowler Bryan, M.D. in a statement issued Friday said that finding West Nile is not uncommon for this time of year.

Dr. Bryan recommends making sure there is no standing water in outdoor containers as this helps the mosquito population breed and to use insect repellent which contain DEET when outdoors for long periods of times.

While several counties in Georgia have reported finding the West Nile Virus in mosquitoes and animals, there have only been a handful of cases in humans so far this year.
