Clayton County, Georgia Schools Official John Walker Indicted for Bribery

JONESBORO, Ga. - Clayton County authorities say the head of security for the county's schools has been indicted on charges he tried to bribe a judge.

Clayton Chief Assistant District Attoey Erman Tanjuatco confirmed Tuesday that John Walker is facing a court hearing next week on a bribery charge.

Walker is accused of offering Clayton Chief Magistrate Judge Daphne Walker, no relation, campaign contributions in exchange for awarding a county contract to a probation company John Walker works for as legal liaison. He was indicted Oct. 20.

The probation contract was for Magistrate Court and State Court offenders.

The Atlanta Joual-Constitution reports that a telephone call to Walker's home was answered by his wife, who said he did not want to comment.
