CLARKSTON, Ga. - Police say a man is charged with murder and assault after he stabbed a woman to death and critically injured her mother in front of children in a suburban Atlanta home.

WSB-TV reports that 24-year-old Dominique Martin died after the attack Saturday moing at her mother's Clarkston apartment. Police say Martin's mother, 44-year-old Ursula Peterson, is in critical condition after being stabbed repeatedly.

Police say Stephen Bailey is in the DeKalb County jail on murder and aggravated assault charges in the attack. So far, authorities have no motive for the stabbings.

Police say Martin's son held his mother as he called 911 to report the attack. It was not clear how many children were in the home or how old they are.
