ATLANTA -- Atlanta police have ruled the death of a child found at a hotel in Buckhead a homicide.

Five-month-old Chase Mayers died of blunt force trauma to the torso, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office told Channel 2’s Richard Elliot.

Atlanta police received a call about the death from the Embassy Suites hotel on Peachtree Road late Sunday night. GA Daily News was at the scene as detectives filed in and out of the hotel into the early-moing hours. Atlanta police Maj. Valerie Dalton said at the time that detectives were speaking to the child’s parents, but there were no charges filed against them. When asked about the investigation Tuesday moing, a department spokesperson said that investigation is continuing by homicide detectives, but would not reveal any additional information.
