ATLANTA -- Chicago TV sports anchor Daryl Hawks had died while in Atlanta to cover the Chicago Bulls in the Easte Conference semifinals.

Hawks had worked at WMAQ-TV since 2008.

The station reports that hotel employees discovered Hawks in his room Thursday moing. He was pronounced dead at an Atlanta hospital. There's no word yet on the cause of death.

Station Manager Frank Whittaker said people at the station are stunned by Hawks' death.

The 38-year-old former Marine was a three-time Emmy winner. He's survived by his wife, Sandy, and two children.
