An Apartment fire the Genttry's Walk Apartments in Chamblee forced two residents to jump from the three-story apartment building to escape a fire late Thursday.

The fire destroyed half of the building at the Gentry's Walk apartments in Chamblee. DeKalb Fire Battalion Chief Greg Rucker said the fire broke out inside a second-floor unit.
 
Two people jumped from the top-floor balconies to escape the flames. One was transported to a hospital for minor injuries, but the other was not. Two firefighters were also injured.



”Minor injuries to firefighters from falling sheet rock, Rucker said.

Firefighters began extinguishing the fire around 11:40 p.m. and were still putting out hotspots the next moing. They said once the hot spots are out, they can look into the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross siad the apartment management was able to put displaced families in hotels. The Red Cross also plans to help.
