Buckhead Man Mark Corbin Claims Thieves Stole $40K of Jewelry From Car Trunk
Mark Corbin says a $26,000 necklace and a $6,000 pin were among the items stolen from his car trunk.

Thieves stole $40k worth of jewelry from a Buckhead man's car trunk just before Christmas. Mark Corbin says he was excited to buy his wife one-of-a-kind jewelry for Christmas this year.

Corbin says he picked up the $26,000 necklace and $6,000 pin from his Buckhead safety deposit box a few days before Christmas. He also got some older jewelry that his wife wanted to wear for the holidays, including a Tiffany pin that belonged to his mother, who passed away last month.

”That actually is the one with the least monetary value of all of them, but sentimental-wise it has the most meaning, Corbin said.

Corbin says he put the jewelry in the truck when he grabbed lunch, and when he came out, the trunk was broken and the jewelry was gone.

”I feel like somebody obviously was watching me and knew I had something valuable in the bag, Corbin said.

No other cars were broken into. Police are investigating. Corbin says he's scoured pawn shops and gold dealers looking for the jewelry.

”I was expecting to surprise my wife with these beautiful gifts and unfortunately they were stolen and it really put a damper on my spirits, Corbin said.

Corbin said if he had to do it all over again, he would have gone straight home with the jewelry instead of leaving it in the trunk during lunch. He is offering a reward if the jewelry is recovered.
