BRITNEY Spears has admitted her worried father ran a background check on her new boyfriend David Lucado.

Spears began dating Lucado in March, after splitting from finance JasonTrawick in January.

But the pop star admits her protective father Jamie Spears carried about a background check on her new beau, US Weekly reports.

"That is true. My dad's a little crazy like that," she reportedly told Entertainment Tonight in an upcoming interview.

Spears gushed about her relationship with Lucado, who she described as "really funny and really passionate".

"I'm in love. I like the fact that he’s very stubbo and he’s stuck in his ways. He’s just a simple man. I adore him," she said.

The Work B*tch singer also told ET she’d like to have more children but said that despite being head-over-heels, she' isn't so sure about tying the knot again. Spears has two children, Sean and Jayden, from her marriage to Kevin Federline. She was also briefly married to friend Jason Alexander in a shock quickie Las Vegas wedding.

Spears, who has famously had her ups and downs, said her upcoming album Britney Jean "was kind of like therapy for me."

"It just kind of transformed me. As you write something, you’re perspective changes. So it was like my good therapy record," she said.
