Body Matching Description Of Missing Kayaker Found
ROSWELL, Ga. -- A body matching the description of a kayaker who was reported missing Wednesday has been found, GA Daily News reporter Aaron Diamant confirmed.
Members of the Forsyth County dive team found the body about 50 yards from where the kayaker went under in the Chattahoochee River in Roswell, authorities said.
Two people were kayaking in the river on Wednesday when one of them fell out of the boat and disappeared, according to authorities.
The missing kayaker is described as a man in his 60s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He has gray hair, a mustache and was wearing a gray sweatshirt and green shorts, authorities said. Authorities said they don't believe the missing kayaker was wearing a life jacket.
The other kayaker has been found and is safe.
Rescuers concentrated their search in an area near some rapids with rocks protruding from the water. News Chopper 2 flew over the area where the search was concentrated and showed two rescuers in a boat in the middle of the river. Emergency vehicles lined an area of Riverside Road just east of Georgia 400.
The coroner's office will work to identify the body.
