MACON, Ga. - Volunteers are completing work on about seven miles of hilly trails open to mountain bikers, runners and walkers at Bibb County's Lake Tobesofkee.

Many of the area's trails were destroyed in the Mother's Day toado of 2008. The latest construction is supported by a state grant of $91,500 announced last week.

The Telegraph newspaper reports that Ocmulgee Mountain Bike Association President Jake Corwine says the trail under construction now will attract hundreds of visitors from Atlanta and beyond. The group, which is working with the Bibb County govement, is pursuing a grant to build another three miles.

The newest portion of Arrowhead Park trail goes through areas badly damaged in the storm and the salvage logging operations that followed.
