Ball boy’s rough day at the office

SOME days, things just don't go your way — but all you can do is pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going.

That's exactly what one ball boy at the Barcelona Open BancSabadell was forced to do after a rather embarrassing incident on the court.

During a match between Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili and Spain's Nicolas Almagro, the boy threw a ball to the Spaniard before running to collect two that Almagro had discarded.

Rushing back to his position at the back of the court, the boy lost sight of a mat that lay on the clay just before a large blue wall backing the arena.

Catching the edge of the mat, his feet gave way and he dropped forward onto his knees, smashing his face on the wall at the back of the court.

That has got to hurt.

But it was the ball boy's reaction that was most priceless.

Springing to his feet, he stood still, arms crossed behind him staring straight ahead as if nothing had happened.

Smooth, so very smooth.

Gabashvili clawed back from a first set deficit to beat Almagro 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
