Background Check Fee Upsets APS Workers
ATLANTA - Atlanta school employees will be fired if they refuse to pay a fee to have their backgrounds checked. Workers, backed by their union are protesting the policy calling it unfair.
Workers say they are being asked to hand over $40 to have themselves screened with background checks.
The employees are subject to termination if they don't have the money in by Monday. The policy affects both new and current employees due to a new state requirement.
