Authorities responding to a traffic accident found the body of a 16-year-old boy in the backseat of a car in Richmond County. Police say he had been shot in the head.

Investigators tell the Augusta Chronicle (http://bit.ly/yhUWWS) they were called to a wreck early Monday moing where they discovered the teenager, Kyle Austin Royal, in the backseat of a blue Mercury Marquis.

Deputies said the vehicle had collided with a telephone pole.

Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner said it appeared that Royal had died before the accident.

Authorities say further investigation revealed the teen had been shot to death while sitting in the vehicle when numerous shots were fired in the parking lot outside Club Magic on Mike Padgett Highway.
