Fulton County deputies have arrested a man they say stabbed a teenager to death in a city park.

Officers responded to Woodruff Park on Peachtree Street at about 9:45 p.m. They found a man in his late teens who had been stabbed.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Grady Memorial Hospital where he died.

After questioning witnesses, the suspect, Trent Anderson, 26, was found a few blocks from the stabbing scene and was arrested.

"We currently also have one individual who is detained that may have some involvement in the incident," said Lt. Charles Hampton, Homicide Commander for the Atlanta Police Department. "We're going to take him down to headquarters just to verify that."

Officers said Anderson apparently knew the victim and the two were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.

They were trying to determine a motive for the stabbing.

The name of the victim has not been released.
