Atlanta Man Accused Of Killing 86-Year-Old Father

ATLANTA -- A man killed his elderly father early Thursday, Atlanta police said.

The shooting happened on Austin Road in southwest Atlanta shortly before 3 a.m.

GA Daily News was at the scene as police swarmed the neighborhood. At least four crime scene vans surrounded the area, and a man was being held in the back seat of a patrol car.

Police said an 86-year-old man was shot by his adult son. They said several family members were at the home during the shooting, and one of them called 911. Police said no one else was hurt.

Atlanta police Lt. Paul Guerrucci said officers were interviewing witnesses inside the home. He said they were working to develop a motive.
