Atlanta is the Second Most Dangerous City in America
Atlanta Ranks 2 on National Crime List

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Police Department responded Thursday to a " U.S. News and World " report that ranked Atlanta as one of the nation's most dangerous cities.

Atlanta is listed second on the list, just behind St. Louis. Birmingham, Orlando and Detroit rounded out the top five.

According to the publication, the rankings are based on FBI data from 2003 to 2009.

Atlanta police urged citizens to view the list with skepticism since there are many factors that are not considered, including size and geographical footprint of cities.
