Authorities say a Clarke County jury has convicted a man of raping two homeless Athens women, one in 2009 and another in 2010.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/yaV8kM) that it took jurors less than three hours Tuesday to find 47-year-old Avery Christopher Bradford guilty on all charges — two counts each of rape and aggravated assault, three counts of aggravated sodomy and one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Assistant District Attoey Jon Forwood told jurors that Bradford raped the women because they were easy prey. He said they were beaten and raped because they were homeless and vulnerable because they were addicted to crack cocaine.

Bradford faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. A sentencing date was not immediately set.
