An Athens groom is accused of punching his new bride after their wedding reception.

The Athens-Banner Herald reports that police say Erick Stevens dragged his new wife by the hair, bit and punched her in the face, and pulled out her hair weaves.

A hotel clerk called 911 after she came to the lobby with a bleeding nose and still wearing her wedding dress, police said.

Stevens is charged with battery and false imprisonment, according to the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff's Office. He was being held at Clarke County Jail on Tuesday.
