Arrest made after man dies trying to escape intruders

Atlanta Police have made an arrest in the death of 51-year-old Jose Greer. Greer died December 8, 2015 after jumping from his third story condo trying to escape home invaders.

Surveillance video showed an unsuspecting resident allowing one of the suspects in through a back door of the southwest Atlanta condo building on Oak Street. He then allowed two additional suspects into the building. Police say when the men started kicking in the door to Greer's condo, Greer went onto the balcony to escape. When they made entry, he jumped.

He fell onto a concrete sidewalk suffering a broken pelvis, broken arms and several other fractures. He died six hours later at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police believe the suspects walked right by Greer, who was lying on the ground.  "That makes it worse to us because they didn't render him any aid whatsoever," Maj. Adam Lee III told 11Alive during the early stages of the investigation.
