John Russell Carver, 50, is accused of beating, raping, and robbing a woman at Saint Timothy United Methodist Church in February, 2011.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A man accused of the brutal rape of a woman inside a Dekalb County church is due back in court in Wednesday moing.

An arraignment is scheduled for John Russell Carter.

Police say Carter beat, raped and robbed a woman last February at the St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Stone Mountain. Detectives say DNA links him to the attack.

Carter faces a 12 count indictment in the case.

Records show he has an extensive rap sheet, including armed robbery and possession of cocaine dating back to 1989.
