Applebee's manager Gregory Smith shot, killed in parking lot
Reward offered in killing of Applebee's manager outside restaurant
Officers from the Fayetteville Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have partnered on the investigation into a homicide early Sunday moing in a restaurant parking lot.

Gregory Smith, 27, of College Park was found dead in his car at the Applebee's on Glynn Street. 

According to police, Smith's girlfriend became conceed when he did not retu home from work and went to find Smith, who is a manager at the restaurant.  Police said she called 911 around 6:30 a.m. to report he had been shot.

Fayetteville Police Lt. Mike Whitlow said Sunday this was the first murder in the area in more than a year.

"It's a nice area and we have very few problems out here.  So this is definitely out of the ordinary for us," explained Lt. Whitlow.

The restaurant is near several other businesses and police were reviewing surveillance footage from their cameras to look for clues. 

"There are surveillance cameras from Applebee's.  We are looking at the tapes right now as we speak," Whitlow said.  "There are surveillance cameras on all of these surrounding businesses.  The trick is to get the right camera at the right angle at the right time." 

Fayetteville Police announced Sunday afteoon that Applebee's is offering a reward for information in the case.  They did not release the amount of that reward.
