Annual Georgia Turkey Giveaway Runs Out

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The lines kept forming for James Brown's annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway even though the 1,100 tickets for free turkeys had long since been handed out.

The Brown Family Children's Foundation has continued the holiday tradition of giving out thousands of turkeys to needy residents since Brown's 2006 death. But the demand outstripped the supply Monday, and dozens of people had to be tued away.

Brown's daughter Deanna Brown-Thomas said it "when I look at this it hurts, because you can't give to everybody, but it goes to show the need is there."
