A child abducted in Bartow County has been found safe in Henry County.

Police tell reporters that someone spotted the car of the suspected kidnapper and called 911.

Officers said they tried to pull over Samantha Nicole Barrett, 22, but she drove off Interstate 75 at Highway 36 and ran off the road into a wooded area.

Police arrested Barrett when she tried to run from the vehicle. They found the child safe in the car.

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office issued a child abduction alert for 8-month-old William Kaidyn Stover shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Deputies say Barrett took the child from a home on Comanchee Street in Cartersville.

"We are not sure at this point what the motive is for her driving off with the child," Sheriff Clark Millsap told Channel 2's Tom Regan.

Millsap said the mother left Barrett in the car with her child to go in the house and get something, and when she came out they were both gone.

The child's mother said he hasn't eaten since Tuesday.

The baby's mother posted a message on Barrett's Facebook page saying, "I just want my baby."

A post on Barrett's Facebook page a few hours later states, "I'm on a money mission."

Records pulled by GA Daily News show Barrett was released from the Cobb County Jail on July 30 after spending two weeks behind bars for probation violation.

She was arrested in Bartow County in 2009 for possession of methamphetamine.
