$3 million pot shipment found in Clayton County

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, along with federal law enforcement, tracked a $3 million shipment of marijuana from Mexico.

Deputies said the drugs were packed inside fuiture in a tractor-trailer that traveled from Mexico to Riverdale.

”Atlanta’s a large hub, and we happened to fall right into the middle of it, Deputy Michael Johnson of the Sheriff’s Office said.

Johnson said a week-long undercover investigation involving more than a dozen officers tracked the truck from Mexico as it crossed the border into Texas and all the way to Clayton County carrying 331 bricks of marijuana.

”They went to a warehouse first, then they went to a private home, Johnson said.

The home is located in a quiet subdivision on Eagle’s Feather Lane in Riverdale. Officers raided the home and arrested four men on marijuana trafficking charges.

Deputies said they also found $282,000 in cash.

Once the case has made its way through the legal system, the marijuana will be destroyed.
