2-year-old Kamarri Lewis shot, killed in Stone Mountain
Family members identified the boy as Kamarri Lewis.

Authorities say a child was shot and killed in a Stone Mountain neighborhood Monday moing.

Police say a family member found the 2-year-old boy around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, but by the time he got to him it was too late. The child was in a home on 3rd Street.

"The child was reportedly discovered by a family member, deceased from an apparent gun shot wound," said Captain Stephen Fore with DeKalb County Police. "Detectives are currently interviewing persons of interest and attempting to determine what took place."

Initially police thought it may have been a self inflicted wound, but a gun found inside a storm drain right in front of the home led them to investigate further.

"That leads our speculation to make sure we investigate fully to find out exactly what took place," said Fore.

Detectives believe the recovered gun was used in the incident. Police are questioning family member along with others.

Update: Detectives say the aunt and uncle have been charged.
