2-year-old Jayden Jamar Clay killed in accidental shooting

A 2-year-old from Jackson, Georgia is dead after an apparent accidental shooting, police said.

Deputies said they were called to a home on WW Carr Avenue in Jackson after a report of shots fired.

The mother, Choice Clay, told police she was in the kitchen tending to groceries while her twin sons played in the living room.

She then heard a single gunshot, according to police.

Police said Jayden Jamar Clay was shot near the upper lip with a .45 caliber. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butts County coroner, Jackson Police Chief James Morgan said.

Police said they believe the mother and her two songs were the only people in the house at the time the shooting occurred.

No arrests have been made in the case and investigators are not sure who the gun belonged to at this time.

Police said the shooting appears to be accidental but are still investigating.
