2 injured after Paulding County airport hangar collapses
Paulding County Airport

Two construction workers were injured, one critically, when an aircraft hangar collapsed at the Paulding County Airport Wednesday afteoon, Channel 2's Richard Elliot discovered at the scene.

Officials did not release the names of the injured workers, but they did confirm that one was taken to Kennestone Hospital in Cobb County. The critically injured worker was rushed to Paulding Regional Hospital.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigators are trying to determine why the partially constructed hangar collapsed.

The structure was still just a steel skeleton without walls or a roof, said Elliot. Winds were gusty at the airfield, and OSHA investigators will see if that played a part in the collapse.

"We're basically waiting on OSHA and the structural engineers to make sure that whatever's got to be done is done," Paulding County Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Ashley Henson said.

Co-workers at the scene had no comment, but did ask for prayers for their injured friends.
