2 Charged After Mother Kaneisha Carr Killed In Front Of Child
ATLANTA -- Two arrests have been made in the killing of a young mother.
The shooting occurred outside the victim’s home on Alison Court in southwest Atlanta on Jan. 14.
Surveillance video showed a man following another man into victim Kaneisha Carr’s home. Police said the first man was trying to rob the second.
At the house, there was confusion, and Carr, 23, was shot to death in front of her 4-year-old daughter, police said. Carr had been preparing for a birthday party, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said.
After canvassing the neighborhood, Atlanta police made two arrests in connection with the shooting Friday night. Princeton Blackwell, 22, and Kerwin Tate, 19, were charged with murder. Police said they believe others may be involved.
”A lot of information came in from that. We were able to tu it to something worthy," Atlanta police Sgt. Theoise Williams said.
Carr’s husband, Derrick, said the arrests have not brought him any relief.
”It don’t change anything, Derrick Carr said. ”I’m not looking to retaliate. I put that in God’s hands.
He said the hardest part is his daughter’s involvement.
"I don't want to put it on TV, but a lot of questions have been asked from her," Derrick Carr said.
He said the child has been placed in counseling.
