17-year-old girl Sariah Wilcoxson gunned down walking to bus stop
Sariah Wilcoxson was gunned down while walking a friend to the bus stop Monday night.

Investigators say a 17-year-old girl was gunned down while walking a friend to a bus stop on Flat Shoals Road in DeKalb County.

Police said Sariah Wilcoxson's body was found lying on the sidewalk near a MARTA bus stop around 8:30 p.m.

A person passing by called 911.

"There was a witness that was walking by and observed her lying in the sidewalk, said DeKalb police Lt. Rod Bryant.

Police are working to determine who she is and if the victim lived at nearby apartments and may have been at the bus stop when she died.

"She's very close to the MARTA stop, possibly waiting on the bus or just walking down the roadway, Bryant said.

Anyone with information is asked to call DeKalb County police.
