11-Year-Old Girl Raped in Her Bedroom, Suspect Al James Ford Arrested

ATLANTA, Ga. - Atlanta police say an 11-year-old girl was raped in her bedroom early Thursday moing, and the suspect in the case was staying at the home where it happened. They say 28-year-old Al James Ford was arrested shortly after the vicious attack.

It happened at a home on Harper Road in southeast Atlanta around 3:30 a.m., police say. According to investigators, the young girl was viciously attacked as she slept in her bedroom.

After the attack, police say the suspect fled on foot and headed toward Jay Street. They say a lookout was given for the vehicle he got into, and the person driving the car didn’t know what Ford was accused of doing. That driver retued Ford to the scene.

Ford is charged with one count of rape and two counts of child molestation, and he is being held at the Fulton County Jail. According to police, he is an acquaintance of the family who was staying at the house at the time of the alleged rape. Officers say the other adults in the house were sleeping.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
