1 in Custody in Buckhead Bank Robbery
ATLANTA - Atlanta police say one person is in custody after a bank robbery in Buckhead on Thursday moing. It happened at the SunTrust Bank on Peachtree Road and Pharr Road around 10:30 a.m.
According to police, the alleged robber flagged down a taxi cab and had the cab take him to the bank. They say after holding up the bank, he came out to the waiting taxi, but the driver realized things weren't right and locked the doors.
Police say the robber was able to make his way back into the cab through one of the doors and then pulled a gun on the driver. They say the driver had a gun, which he fired, missing the robber.
Investigators say the robber then fled the scene and that's when police apprehended him. Police say the suspect had a note in his pocket demanding money, but he never used it.
No one was hurt.
The incident is under investigation.
