Woodstock man Rashan Lawhorne charged with running elaborate online airline-ticket scheme

Police in Cherokee County said a man was arrested and sent to  jail on Wednesday for what they describe as an elaborate online airline-ticket scheme.

He's accused of stealing credit cards, computers and airline tickets.

Investigators said they had been working the case for more than a year and finally made an arrest on Wednesday

Channel 2's cameras spotted Rashan Lawhoe in the back seat of a Woodstock police cruiser headed to the Cherokee County Jail intake.

"His first words were 'I've been waiting for you for a year.' So he knew I was coming. That added to the satisfaction," Detective Manny de la Torre of the Woodstock Police Department told Bachman.

Lawhoe would then buy his "clients" an airline ticket in their name using stolen credit card information that he bought online.

In June of 2011, Airtran called Woodstock police to report problems with ticket purchases. de la Torre said he's been chasing Lawhoe ever since.

"He was advertising on Craigslist for travel vouchers to whatever location," de la Torre said.

Lawhoe would then buy his "clients" an airline ticket in their name using stolen credit card information that he bought online.

The "customers" would then pay Lawhoe a discounted price in cash or money orders.

"We have people as far as South Dakota," de la Torre said.

He said Lawhoe did the work from his computers inside his Woodstock home.

While officers were booking Lawhoe into the Cherokee County Jail, at his home a woman answered the door. She told Bachman she did not want to comment on Lawhoe's arrest.

Lawhoe was booked on $110,000 bond. He faces 16 counts and is charged with stealing $30,000 worth of tickets. Detectives believe that number could rise to more than $100,000.
