Wikipedia kills 244-year-old Encyclopaedia Britannica

Door-to-door encyclopedia salesmen will have to find something new to sell, as our love for Wikipedia has officially killed the Encyclopaedia Britannica. After 244 years, the authoritative reference books are going out of print, the NY Times says. The company will instead focus on online encyclopedias and educational curricula for schools.

The last published edition will be the 32-volume 2010 edition, which weighs in at 129 pounds and costs $1,395. For $70 a year, you will still be able to access the Encyclopaedia Britannica full database of articles, videos and other documents online. Or, go to Wikipedia for free ...

When is the last time you used an actual encyclopedia?
