Virginia Highland Residents Uneasy After Recent Crimes
ATLANTA, Ga. - Police in Atlanta are looking for a third man in connection to a string of recent home invasions and armed robberies. Officers believe the three suspects may also be responsible for the murder of a Virginia Highland man. Meanwhile, the series of crimes has residents on edge.
Virginia Highland is one of the more pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods in the city of Atlanta. Residents there say they appreciate the police department’s quick work, but they want officers to remain vigilant in their neighborhoods.
Several residents told Georgia Newsday they’re very fearful, especially after the murder of Charles Boyer, who was killed during an armed robbery at the Virginia Highland apartments last month.
Since then, police arrested two men they say were seen in surveillance video of a stolen SUV that contained Boyer’s missing cell phone and ID. Police say the third man they’re searching for was also seen in that same video.
Police tell Georgia Newsday they know who that third man is, but they’re showing his picture around to see if they can get a positive ID on him. The names of the two suspects who have already been arrested have not yet been released, but police hope to do so by the week’s end.
Meanwhile, residents say they want much more police protection due to the rash of crimes.
