Vigil Held For Couple Shannon and Consuelo Bell Slain in Union CIty Home Invasion
Dozens of friends and family gathered on Wednesday to remember a couple killed during a home invasion in Union City.
Shannon and Consuelo Bell were killed late Saturday. Their two sons were critically injured during the invasion.
Mouers held candles while others clutched balloons a memorial to the couple.
”It is very tough. What we’re trying to do is trying to keep the focus on the children, said Cassandra Rainey, a relative of the victims.
Police believe the home was not a random act. Investigators say gunmen broke into the home late Saturday.
The couple's sons, a 12-year-old and his brother, 19-year-old Rashawn Rainey remain hospitalized.
Authorities said they have discovered evidence of ”ongoing illicit activity.
”As to our knowledge, we do not know of any illicit activity. We know that they were good, honest, hard-working people that took care of their children, said Rainey.
Rainey said some of the police statements were painful as the family deals with the tragedy. She said she is focusing on what was lost.
”They are going ongoing help. Not just financially, but psychologically, emotionally. They’re just going to need help just to make it day to day, said Rainey.
The 12-year-old is expected to survive. Rashawn Rainey is said to be in more serious condition.
The Bells will be buried this weekend.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
