Up-and-coming rapper Lil Phat shot to death outside hospital
The promising career of Trill Entertainment rapper Lil Phat ended in tragedy Thursday night.
The 19-year-old rapper — bo Melvin Veell 3rd — was shot to death outside a hospital in Sandy Springs, Ga., and police are searching for two suspects "seen running from the location at the time of the shooting," the Atlanta Joual-Constitution reported.
Police said Veell, who hailed from Baton Rouge, La., was hit multiple times as he sat in a parked car near the hospital's entrance and was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
As word of the rapper's death spread, his label mates took to Twitter to mou.
”RIP TO MY LIL BROTHER PHAT! LIFE SO F--KED UP! TRILL4LIFE, ”YOU STUPID BITCHES THINK DEATH A JOKE UNTIL YOU LOSE SOMEBODY YOU LOVE! #RIPLILPHAT, Webbie tweeted Friday.
It was a collaboration with Webbie on the latter's hit single ”Independent — which reached No. 9 on Billboard's Top 100 — that put Phat on the map in 2008.
