Turkish footballer sacked after deliberately kicking player in the face during shocking assault
Sent-off football player kicks opponent in the face on purpose

A Turkish footballer sent off for a brutal assault on an opponent has today been fired by his club.

*Brutal does mean brutal, discretion is advised*

Mehmet Degirmenci who plays for Sanayispor in the lower tiers of Turkish football, saw the red mist descend after he was rightfully sent off by the referee for an angry reaction that saw him kick out at Kayhan Karakas.

Karakas, who was laying on the floor after being hacked down, then became the victim of a horrific kick to the face that saw him requiring nine stitches on his upper lip as the game descended into chaos.

Unbelievably Karakas was able to continue playing throughout the game, telling reporters after the match that he was thankful the outcome didn't leave more permanent damage:

‘I continued playing for a while as I was playing in a team that we have established with great efforts. I did not want to leave my friends alone,' he said.

‘Thank God that kick came near my jaw. If it had hit me directly in the face, it could have broken my nose, made me blind or broken my neck.'

Sanayispor have moved quickly to do the right thing by immediately firing Degirmenci for his truly despicable actions, as revealed in a statement by the club president:

‘To Dallicaspor on behalf of the management, we apologise to our brothers Kayhan and opponents,' he said: ‘Has been cut in relation to our football club.'
