Troubled Amanda Bynes to stay in psychiatric hospital for an extra two weeks
AMANDA Bynes has been ordered to remain in a psychiatric hospital for an extra two weeks after her PARENTS asked doctors to recommend it.
The troubled star was hospitalized after allegedly starting a fire in the drive of a small home in Thousand Oaks, Califoia, on Monday night.
A young woman reported to be Bynes was seen being wheeled around the premises of an LA mental health ward yesterday – with a white sheet covering her entire body.
Cops took the Hairspray actress into custody for an involuntary mental evaluation — also known as a 5150 order — following the incident near her parents’ home.
The 5150 order is the same hold Britney Spears was placed under after her infamous meltdown in 2008.
It allows authorities to keep a patient under surveillance for up to 72 hours.
But yesterday a judge is believed to have ruled it could be extended for another fortnight in 27-year-old Bynes’ case.
The star’s lawyer reportedly argued the extension should be denied, but parents Lynn and Rick asked doctors to recommend it was in their daughter’s best interest to remain in hospital.
It comes after the couple filed court papers asking for emergency control of the young star’s personal and business affairs yesterday.
A hearing to assess the request for into the temporary conservatorship has been scheduled for later today.
The former child star’s parents have both been spotted visiting their daughter in hospital.
Rick has been estranged from his daughter for months and is believed to have agreed to remain on the legal sidelines.
A source told RadarOnline: “Rick will be there for his daughter, no matter what.
“They just want her to get the help she needs, and recognise that it could be a long process. She’s their daughter, and they are committed to getting her better.”
