Third Ga. man Terry Peace pleads guilty in anti-government militia plot
Federal prosecutors say a third man has pleaded guilty in an anti-govement militia plot.
Officials said Thursday that Terry Peace pleaded guilty to conspiring to use weapons of mass destruction. His accomplices, Brian Cannon and Cory Williamson, pleaded guilty to the same charge this week at a federal court in Rome.
FBI officials have said Peace, Williamson and Cannon participated in online chats about executing a militia operation against the govement. Authorities say the chat was being monitored by federal agents and the men talked about targeting the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA and other agencies.
Authorities say the men spoke with a confidential informant who offered them 12 pipe bombs and two grenades. Prosecutors say the men were arrested after the informant gave them fake explosives.
