Clinging on: Horrified witnesses took this photo showing Amu on the windscreen of her boyfriend's SUV
Amu told police that the argument became physical and she then tried to stop him from leaving, so hopped onto the hood of his Jeep.
Seemingly undeterred, Sala got into his car and drove off. He carried on to a nearby parking lot where he performed a U-tu which almost threw Amu off, according to a police report.
He then hit the highway and reached speeds of 85 mph with Amu now clinging on for dear life.
'When I was on top of the car, all I was thinking is that I didn't want to die,' the teenager told Channel 2.

Driven mad? Amu, 19, hopped onto Jonathan Sala' car hood to stop him driving off after an argument. Sala, 29, was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault, simple battery and reckless conduct
Thankfully, a group of conceed drivers managed to box Sala in forcing him to finally stop on an exit ramp.
Incredibly, Amu was not injured although was shaken up when police arrived at the scene and arrested Sala. He faces charges for aggravated assault, reckless conduct and simple battery.
Since her terrifying ordeal on Tuesday Amu has spoken out to defend her older boyfriend saying: ‘We all make mistakes.’
'I was the one who provoked him,' Amu told Channel 2, insisting that Sala was not a bad person.
Although Amu says she was praying to God not to fall off the car, the 19-year-old also admits that she had a chance to get off the Jeep before it reached the highway.
She said that Sala first drove around side streets and stopped the vehicle but she refused to get off.
Other road-users on Interstate 85 on Tuesday were stunned to see the young woman clutching on the Jeep’s windshield.
One witness, Adam Marlatt told WSBtv, that he had to do a ‘quadruple take’ when he saw the woman.
'Then I see her beating on the windshield, crying, as I get close, she’s begging him to pull over. Not only will he not look at me, but he’s not even paying attention to her,’ he told the station.
