Texas basketball team taunted with "USA!" chant from rivals
Racist? Texas high school apologizes for fans' 'USA!' chant after basketball game

One San Antonio school district has filed a complaint while another's superintendent has apologized after a postgame chant of "USA! USA!" was interpreted as a racist taunt. The largely white Alamo Heights Mules defeated the predominantly Hispanic Edison High team in a regional basketball final and, as the Mules received their trophy, the chants began in the Alamo Heights student section.

Mules coach Andrew Brewer quickly stopped the shouts, but district athletic director Gil Garza is angry that it happened at all. "Being made to feel that you don't belong in this country is terrible," Garza said. "Why can't people just applaud our kids?" The students caught chanting have been banned from the state touament.
